For decades, degreasing waste generated by an investment casting process was discharged to a surface impoundment, resulting in the contamination of soil and shallow ground water. Carlson was retained to find a cost-effective cleanup technology as an alternative to off-site soil disposal. Carlson employed Low Temperature Thermal Desorption technology to remediate over 6,000 tons of soil contaminated with chlorinated solvents.
