Woodstock, Illinois

City of Woodstock

Woodstock is currently redeveloping an 11- acre site adjacent to its central business district. Die casting operations had been conducted on this site since 1954. In 1990, the owners filed for bankruptcy and the facility was closed. In 1990, the Illinois EPA filed notice to force the owners to clean the site up under the State’s Superfund statute. Several years later the site was enrolled in the Site Remediation Program when the Village of Woodstock reached a cleanup agreement with Allied Signal, the original operator of the site. The site was then cleared and soil and groundwater remediation were conducted. Carlson was engaged in 2001 to complete all work necessary to obtain a No Further Remediation letter and prepare the site for commercial and residential development.
