Now a shopping center, this 11-acre site, located on the east bank of the Chicago River at Fullerton Avenue, was once the location of an asphalt plant, a bulk petroleum storage facility and a chemical manufacturer. Aerial photos showed that a major oil company had operated on the site for many years; these operations had caused significant soil contamination.
